This guitar has a medium sized body and is inspired and derived from the fingerpicker’s delight – the old Martin ‘Orchestra Model’. It is ideal for finger style playing as it has an amazingly even response across all the strings yet can also handle rhythm and plectrum playing. The marvellous balance enables the ‘Kingsdown’ to record beautifully without any of the ‘boominess’ of larger bodied models, also making it very suitable for amplification.
This example shows the Kingsdown with a solid Sitka spruce soundboard and solid Brazilian mahogany back and sides. It is bound in Holly. The fingerboard and bridge are made from Brazilian rosewood. The scratch plate is walnut and the machine heads are made by Gotoh. It has an oil finish.
