This guitar has a medium sized body and is inspired and derived from the fingerpicker’s delight – the old Martin ‘Orchestra Model’. It is ideal for finger style playing as it has an amazingly even response across all the strings yet can also handle rhythm and plectrum playing. The marvellous balance enables the ‘Kingsdown’ to record beautifully without any of the ‘boominess’ of larger bodied models, also making it very suitable for amplification.
This example has a solid Sitka spruce soundboard with an Abalone rosette, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides and is bound in English Holly with multiple purflings. The Neck is Brazilian mahogany. The fingerboard, bridge and head veneer are ebony. The scratch plate is walnut. The Machine heads are made by Waverley USA and are of the finest quality.
